From 17th July for approx. 7 days, “HMS PROTECTOR” will be undertaking Survey Work in an area South and West of the Harbour entrance.

  1. MARINERS ARE HEREBY ADVISED that, from 17th July for approx. 7 days, the Royal Naval Vessel “HMS PROTECTOR” will be undertaking Survey Work in an area South and West of the Harbour entrance but keeping clear between the Pilot Station and the buoyed entrance (See chartlet).
  2. HMS Protector is an 90m LOA Offshore Vessel, she will display appropriate shapes and lights as per the regulations and maintain listening watch on VHF Ch 12 and CH16.
  3. All traffic requested to keep clear by 500m. Vessel will survey within areas 2, 5 and 6 as per chartlet.
  4. VTS to liaise with HMS Protector regarding large vessel movements, in order to give sufficient time to request that she keeps clear of vessels approaching the pilot station and attending tugs.       
  5. Admiralty Chart 2878 (Approaches), 3273 (Entrance), 3274 (West Haven), and Imray Y26 & 2600 ATLAS refer.
  6. This notice will be cancelled when survey work is completed.
