A summer of fun kicks off for young people at Milford Waterfront next week as the award-winning Under the Bridge project returns for 2026.

Delivered in partnership by the Port of Milford Haven and Milford Youth Matters, the popular initiative offers free activities and entertainment for 11-17 year olds throughout the summer holidays. The first session takes place on Tuesday 21st July between 6-8pm and will run every Tuesday and Friday evening until the final event on Friday 28th August.

A varied programme of activities has been planned including inflatables, water safety sessions, workshops delivered by St Johns Ambulance and the VC Gallery, as well as free refreshments for all participants.

Last year over 250 young people engaged with Under the Bridge, highlighting the continued demand for positive, accessible activities during the school holidays.

Emily Jones, Engagement Executive at the Port of Milford Haven, said:

“Under the Bridge remains one of our most successful and well-established community projects, engaging hundreds of young people every summer. Working alongside the fantastic team at Milford Youth Matters, we are able to provide a safe, welcoming environment where young people can enjoy a wide range of activities, make new connections and develop valuable skills. The programme also plays an important role in promoting positive engagement and helping to reduce anti-social behaviour in the area. We are delighted to see it return for another year and look forward to welcoming participants throughout the summer.”

Dayle Gibby, Milford Youth Matters Co-ordinator, commented:

“We are extremely grateful to the Port of Milford Haven for their continued support of the Under the Bridge summer project. The programme has become an important part of the summer for many local young people, providing free, accessible activities in a safe and welcoming environment. Through our partnership with the Port, we are able to engage with hundreds of young people each year, helping them to build confidence, form positive relationships and make the most of their summer holidays. We are proud to work alongside an organisation that shares our commitment to supporting the wellbeing and development of young people across our community.”

The project forms part of the Port of Milford Haven’s educational engagement programme which is guided by three key themes: A safe, inclusive and enjoyable Waterway; a skilled and confident community; and a sustainable and resilient environment.
