A scientific instrument frame with surface marker buoy will be deployed within the South Hook 100m Vessel Exclusion Zone on the 4th of December 2025 for approximately one month.

  1. MARINERS ARE HEREBY ADVISED that a scientific instrument frame (measuring waves, currents and suspended sediment) will be deployed on behalf of NRW by Plymouth University, just inside the South Hook 100m Vessel Exclusion Zone north of berth 2, east of the jetty access road. The instrument will be marked by a surface buoy.
  2. Deployment will be carried out by ‘MV Sea Leopard’ on 4th December 2025, with retrieval planned around 6th January 2026, weather dependent.
  3. MV Sea Leopard will display the appropriate lights and shapes and maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 12. Mariners are requested to navigate with caution in the vicinity of the deployment site.
  4. Admiralty Charts 3274 and Imray Y26 & 2600 Atlas refer.
  5. A further Notice to Mariners will be issued to cancel this one once the instrument has been recovered, and operations are complete.
