The Port of Milford Haven and Milford Youth Matters have teamed up to launch a new winter initiative offering young people a safe and warm place to go over the next few months during a time when families may be struggling financially.

The Winter Warmer Nights will be held at Milford United Football Club every Wednesday evening and are open to all 11-17 year olds. The sessions are an opportunity for young people to socialise with their friends, stay warm, enjoy a hot meal and watch films.

Hollie Phillips, Community Engagement Assistant at the Port of Milford Haven, said “We are acutely aware of the strain many families will be under this winter as the cost of living crisis hits hard in our communities. Our partners Milford Youth Matters have an excellent relationship with young people in our town and are well placed to create a warm inviting environment they can enjoy with their friends.”

Milford Youth Matters Co-ordinator, Dayle Gibby, will be running the Winter Warmer Nights with his team. He said “It’s once again fantastic to be co-delivering another project with the Port of Milford Haven. The Winter Warmer Nights is an opportunity to provide young people with a space during the winter months to access hot meals at a low cost, to socialise with friends and volunteer. The initiative is at its early stages and will develop during the project period. We are thankful to our partners at the Port who are supporting with the delivery, and to Milford Haven Football Club for hosting the sessions.”

The sessions will be held between 5.30-8.30pm with food served at 6pm. For any queries please contact Dayle at

Port of Milford Haven

The Port of Milford Haven is the UK’s top energy port and Wales’ busiest port handling around 20% of Britain’s seaborne trade in oil and gas.  It is widely recognised in the industry as the energy capital of the UK.

The Port, along with the cluster of energy-related businesses along the Waterway, is a key driver of economic activity in Pembrokeshire, attracting inward investment and supporting over 4,000 jobs.

The Port of Milford Haven also owns and operates Pembroke Port and Milford Dock.  Activities such as cargo handling, ferry operations, fish landing and cruise calls as well as a first class marina are spread across these two sites.

One of the most prominent on the West Coast, the Port is in the heart of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, the only Coastal National Park in Great Britain. It is marked as a Special Area of Conservation (SAC) and has many areas designated as Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).

The Port of Milford Haven is a trust port – an independent, commercially run organisation that has statutory responsibilities governed by its Acts, to maintain and improve navigation and the provision of Port and Harbour services and facilities.  Additionally, the Port provides significant financial and in-kind support to a wide variety of local causes.  All profits are retained within the business to fund these objectives.
