MARINERS ARE HEREBY ADVISED that from 24th April 2023 for a period of approx. 3 months, HMS Magpie, will be conducting surveys of the Waterway from Wear Spit out beyond the pilot station including both East and West Channels.
1. MARINERS ARE HEREBY ADVISED that from 24th April 2023 for a period of approx. 3 months, HMS Magpie, will be conducting surveys of the Waterway from Wear Spit out beyond the pilot station including both East and West Channels.
2. HMS Magpie is a Royal Navy Survey vessel. 19m LOA with call sign “Warship Magpie” and will show appropriate lights and shapes as defined in the COLREG, maintaining listening watch on VHF Ch12.
3. Mariners are requested to keep clear and reduce wash were possible passing, please note vessel will be using a towed sensor as part of the deployment.
4. HMS Magpie will keep marked channels clear for commercial (Piloted and PEC) vessel transits, exciting channel 1 nm before vessel and remaining outside of channel till commercial vessel has passed.
5. Admiralty Chart 2878 (Approaches), 3273 (Entrance), 3274 (West Haven), 3275 (East Haven), and Imray Y26 & 2600 ATLAS refer.
6. This notice will be cancelled when surveys are completed.
