Leisure & Tourism
Long known for the beauty of its coastal National Park and the excellence of its outdoor activities, there is untapped potential for growth in Pembrokeshire’s leisure and tourism sectors. Of particular focus is the dramatic Milford Haven Waterway, a dynamic space which has great appeal for recreation users.
The Port takes pride in maintaining the Waterway for all users, and continues to invest in infrastructure and initiatives that support this sector and attracts more visitors – whatever the season and whatever the weather. The multi-million pound Milford Waterfront development is a key example of the Port’s commitment in this area.
Milford Waterfront is a flagship project for the Port of Milford Haven. It is set to create 380,000 sq ft of additional leisure, hospitality and retail space around the attractive marina. Already home to a popular choice of regionally focused businesses, the multi-million pound development offers increased opportunities for independent businesses as well as for national brands. This is a smart development that looks to achieve maximum energy efficiency and lower operational costs; a vibrant space with international profile events and a year round audience.
This summer, the Waterway is home to the P1 Powerboat Championships. An adrenalin fueled event centred around Milford Marina with opportunities for businesses to become involved.
Lock Gates - complete
The installation of new lock gates was completed in 2016. With a shorter transit time for visitors it has offered new opportunities for businesses - with dive charter and boat tour companies among others now calling Milford Waterfront home.
