Recreational Activities

Some of the recreational water-based activities available in and around the Haven include:

Sailing
Powerboating
Waterskiing
Windsurfing
Diving
Rowing
Kayaking and Canoeing
Angling
Wildlife Trips

Milford Haven is also a busy commercial port. Byelaws and zoning schemes exist which are applicable to recreational users. Details of these are shown in the Leisure Users Guide which is widely available at no charge around the Haven in the marinas, Yacht Clubs, chandleries and hostelries.

The Waterway attracts both experienced and novice users in every activity, all of whom will interact with each other and commercial vessels. It is important that all users have an understanding of the basic Rules of the Road applicable when on the water. It is also strongly recommended that users should complete a recognized training course before venturing out onto open waters.  To find details of recognised training centres, please visit our useful links section.

As the Waterway and Pembrokeshire Coastline are important areas for wildlife,  groups involved in all forms of outdoor recreation have developed codes of conduct for activities to help minimise disturbance to our wildlife. All users of the waterway are encouraged to follow these codes.  Please see the useful links section for more information on codes of conduct.
